    Kilted Wedding

My fiance and I are planning our wedding, and even though I'm not scottish I want to get married in a kilt. They look amazing! My fiance is against the idea. She says I look great in a suit and wants our wedding photos to be "timeless" but I hate wearing suits and feel kilts are about as timeless as it gets.

Any advice to warm her to the idea of a kilted wedding?

Are your timeless trousers going to be broad, straight, narrow or flared, with or without turnups and or braces? Not to mention topping the suit of with a timeless ruche tie? Or is your kilt going to be...... a kilt?
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Hmm, in the circumstances, I think my advice would be to go along with the wishes of your fiancée. Your wedding should be the happiest day of your lives for both of you. Going against her wishes might suggest a little tarnish on her happiness. Count it as "one owed" if you like.

But it's your decision, of course.

Either way, I wish a long and happy life together to both of you.
    Regards, Sav.

One option, depending on HER plans, would be to go Saxon dress for the wedding itself, then the two of you change into tartan garments for the reception. You might be able to get her to go along with this idea, and maybe even have you piped in as a couple. But remember, this is her day, and you want her to remember it fondly.

I would agree with this option. This day belongs to both of you, find a compromise.... it's a great way to start your new lives together. Best wishes to you both!

It's her big day... though personally I would go with the kilt as that's "timeless" and looks smart. Changing into a kilt halfway through might be seen as a little odd, IMHO. Usually it's the bride that may change out of her dress into something more comfortable for the reception

This was how my first wedding worked 40 years ago. I wore a cream formal jacket, dark green formal trousers, a dark green velvet bow tie, a light green frilly shirt, and dark green patent leather shoes for the wedding. I changed into my kilt prior to the reception. Everybody was happy!

And if you had not, the color scheme might have been changed to black and blue.
