Sadly you get what I believe are the slightly envious individuals who like to say it's a skirt.
I tend to wonder about them but always ignore them

Absolutely agreed. I've only been wearing kilts for about a year now, but I've already learned that the proper way to process the "skirt" remarks is as follows.

    1) Person makes "clever" skirt comment.
    2) Comment enters nearest ear.
    3) Comment departs opposite ear.
    4) Continue on as if naught has happened.

The only time I've had a hard time with that particular comment is when a grown man though he'd take that comment to me through my 3yo daughter. I'm not keen on strangers approaching my children, I'm less keen on them attempting, clumsily albeit, to co-opt them into mocking their father. I honestly have a good laugh when I hear the occasional whispered "look at his skirt" usually accompanied by the laughter of some wee lass, but I narrowly resisted a good telling off on this particular occasion.

I am currently wearing such a boot. And will be wearing my utility kilt to work at the end of next week. Kind of an annual tradition for me this time of yea for me at work, and I do have to prepare coworkers for said event. Or maybe I am warning them...
