OK, I take the correction, I guess I had allowed myself to stoop to the modern use of the word "discrimination", instead of the traditional use.

I perhaps alluded to that by mentioning it's overuse these days, I should say 'wrong use', like many words, they have changed.

That is very interesting David. What's the name of the Book? Do you know of an on-line source where pics are posted of these?

I remember reading that among the things that Lowlanders found offensive about Highlanders was their exposing themselves while sitting and the smells that eminated from beneath their Belted Plaids, which they wore at mid-thigh!

My personal preference is just about at the knee cap. If my kilt falls any longer it doesn't feel or look right, if it is shorter I began to be concerned about more showing than I care for.

The Book is one 'Episc' told me about
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...663043-9294851

It's a great book and is well worth it (just as I have said) for the pictures. It's 256 pages with pictures on all of them .Ok! Ok! there are lots of words too (thoose are more difficult)....

Here's an illustration Of what I mean

Yes to my eye it also looks wrong. However my point was that "At the time this was no doubt the norm" (No not that Norm)Therefore It looked right.
