Once you have one that fits you well, if you decide you want to add others, I'd use those measurements to search vintage kilt jackets (and waistcoats if possible). There's quite a bit of junk for sale in the new tweeds listed on eBay but you can find some great deals on pre-owned stuff if you know your measurements and take your time.

Will do!
Much appreciated.

The link above to the ebay jacket is a very odd listing.
Jacket and vest for $92.50usd ????
"Scottish" When located in Liverpool?
"Crail Argyle" which is it?
"Tweed / 100% Melton" Which is it?
This is the same company that offers a six piece set including kilt, seal skin sporran and chain (the last I heard the sale of seal was illegal in the UK), belt, buckle, kilt pin, fly brooch for £58.00. That's $75.00 US Dollars !!!!! That's less than the jacket.
So I looked a bit closer. Their address is 72a 4 Mann Island, Liverpool. Which happens to be a set of sales and marketing suites within the Museum of Liverpool.
Very odd to say the least.

The sale of seal skin sporrans is widespread in the UK. All of the kilt shops in Scotland sell it, along with sporran makes such as Margaret Morrison (now incorporating Nicoll Bros.) and others.
Legally speaking - in one context there is a ban on all seal products in the UK this is subject to Regulation (EC) No. 1007/2009 which applies an EU-wide ban on the commercial import and placing on the market of all seal products and any products containing such items - BUT this is also subject to a Customs Information Publication (CIP1) which includes various exemptions: including (i) personal items and (ii) items that result from traditional hunts by Inuit and other indigenous communities that:
- contribute to their subsistence
- aren’t conducted primarily for commercial purposes
- are conducted in a manner which has due regard to animal welfare
So much of the seal skin in the UK comes from Greenland (and is likely to be Harp Seal or Ringed Seal) were it qualifies under the exemption to the ban. Many items (my own sporrans included) also have stickers identifying that the skin as Greenland Seal.

Your detective work is impeccable.
I also think it's quite odd. Best to avoid. Thanks again for all your insight.

If you read the description you may discern from the language the probable origins of the author and product. I have to be very careful when I make purchases that I do not buy anything made in Pakistan.
