Well, all I can say is that the Aberdeen items I have for sale in our gift shop, woven by Lochcarron, most definitely have pink. Not an off-color red or purple, but PINK. Like you asked a five year old to find a pink crayon, this is the first color she'd point to.
Anyway, about how to pleat that tartan -- if a tartan has an unusually complicated sett, it may not be possible to pleat to a particular stripe (it may, but it may not), in which case the kilt maker will come up with some alternate pattern of pleating. In other words, I'll create a regular pattern, but it won't be the actual sett of the tartan. The other option would be to go the uber-traditional route and have it pleated to nothing!
If anyone has a copy of Bob Martin's All About Your Kilt he has pictures of two kilts, on pg 39, pleated this way. I beleive they are the Ogilvie of Airlie tartan. One is pleated to nothing, the other i spleated to a made-up pattern.
Aye,
Matt

Please take note of the date that this thread was started, I'm sure the original poster found something for his wedding, it was 3 years ago.

Hmmm...Gez only has 2 posts. I wonder if he ever found a tartan? I also wonder how the wedding went and if he has pictures of said wedding & resulting tartan?
Now that I think about it, I wonder if he ever got married and/or if he is still married??

Well well, see what trouble you all cause yourselves! This is one of the reasons why we Scots(in the main) only wear one tartan! We would not dream of changing "our" tartan to match the bride's outfit, and most brides would not even think of asking us to change!I just cannot get my head around the thought of wearing all these differant tartans.Still, that's my problem,I suppose. Can I wish you and the bride all the very best for your futures.
