Holy crap! Twice in one day!

I'm making reference to the new rule created by Hank recently:

    • If you dont agree with a topic and feel you must post something saying as much then dont post a reply. If you dont care about a topic then dont post a reply. If you dont have anything constructive to add to a post then dont reply.

If you want to talk about where Stillwaters are made, create your own thread. It doesn't have anything to do with the original post of this thread. If I see anything else about this, I'll just chop off the last part of this thread.

    Rufus said "crap".

    I'm telling.

Back to the subject at hand...

With the heavier fabric, this has got to be the last of the changes that we have been talking about. I noticed that the "Standard" kilts are wonderful on the hips, and quite easy to maintain. My only personal beef was about the weight (which is perfect for spring to fall). I am a heavy kilt wearer! I move WAY too much, and love the feel of the sway.

As for future tartans... you're gonna have to wait. That takes a LOAD of money for the material, the stock, the designing, the contracts, and the production. They're not a little operation that can do a dozen and save you money. Sometimes, you've got to give-up something to get something.

I would LOVE to see a plain black kilt in the heavy design! A solid with the three buckles, the thinner and deeper pleats AND the price of a StillWater! Finally a solid black that's not in the normal "casual" solid design. I would be all over it!

I would be all over a solid black HSWK like flies on *****.

I would get at least two.

And I don't even like solid colour kilts.

    hey y'all,
this post has been VERY interesting, both from a kilt perspective and as an economics primer!
for the money the stillwater heavyweight sounds like the cats meow bubba, you and i both cannot afford to drop several bills for a kilt and as this is my first purchase, i would like to buy a kilt that is as solid and well made as i can get without being afraid that i find i HATE the feel of kilts and sell it at the next yard sale for $5! i know if i start i will never look back but i didn't buy a lexus right off the bat either.
Jerry, please do what you can to off another tartan! i find i am attracted to the construction but the blackwatch doesn't turn my crank!
thanks all for the info and Dred, please let us know how the wash experience turns out.

The Blackwatch is so bloody dark that several people today thought it WAS SOLID BLACK. Once they got closer they realized there was other colours.

My new kilt is a black hole.

To get an "idea" of what we're talking about with a StillWater in all black, take a look at Hamish's pictures, and look at him in a black 21st Century Kilt (TFCK for the Newbies).

GRANTED, I'm in NO WAY comparing the quality of the two companies, but rather illustrating the traditional in all black.

I've had the UtiliKilt and AmeriKilt in black, and they're gone. I want a nice three-buckle, tight pleat, heavy black kilt! I don't want to get a second mortgage for it either!

There's SO MUCH that you can do and wear with a solid black kilt. You can even wear a green shirt and sporran for a totally different look!

I'm "jonesing" for something that doesn't even exist! Now THAT'S a tough waiting period!

Mighty Sheep-Hearder... I've gotten LAZY over the last few months. Too many jobs, too much Guinness, and WAY too much interest in letting someone else do the work!!!

Gotta jump in and add my two cents worth to what was said by the kilted brother formerly known as Dread.
For the most part I second everything he had to say but I will add one complaint (abet a small one), that $#^@@* basting stich was a p.i.t.a. to get out.

I showed the kilt to my MiL who has been sewing for more years than a lot of us have been around. She could find no fault with the workmanship or sewing.

I know what you mean about it being dark but today was bright and sunny here and the colors absolutly gleamed. No question that the blue was blue and the green was green.

Solids? Be all over a green one in a NY minute!

    Mike
