My wife and sister also have motorcycles, and I worked as a motorcycle funeral escort officer when I was in college.
My uncle was an Army motorcycle dispatch messenger in WW2.
Wow! That's an impressive record.
I am currently shopping for a used sidecar-equpped motorcycle to add to my collection. As much as I love Harleys, I might get a BMW for my next new bike, just to try something different.
Well, I suppose we all collect something or other! I know what I'd prefer to Kollect however!!! ;);)

I rebuilt a 1959 BSA A10 in my flat when I was a student - it had a Watsonian sidecar I had to leave parked outside as it would not fit through the doorway as a combo.
When the two parts were sucessfully reunited I trundled around on it for quite a few years.
Sigh.
They are great on icy roads - by the way - the flexing of the universal joint creates an unusual sideways grip which seems to counteract sliding to some extent.

LOL! Derek, neither really, but if I had to choose one or the other it would have to be "Mod"!! Prior to the one motorcycle, I had a Vespa scooter which I polished tenderly although I had no idea at all what made it 'tick'. That was probably the only motorised vehicle I have owned with which I was truly comfortable.
On the other hand, I never wore a Parka, never had a squirrel's tail attached to the Vespa's arial - in fact, never had an arial - so, on second thoughts, I don't think I could have been a Mod. But I was NEVER a rocker either!!!

My choice is to wear a kilt, but I would have to keep a pair of Tourmaster overpants hidden in the back of the closet where none of you can find them. I've been a Harley guy most of my life, I'm a life member of H.O.G. with over 200,000 miles since I started keeping records in '93. I ride in my kilt (I can't figure out the bungee thing either Sciuropterus) but I use the riding pants over the top of my kilt to go any distance. It might be a bit rough in a wool kilt but it works fine with my poly-v's. I was on the committee for the Washington State H.O.G. rally in 2005 and I wore a kilt every day of the tour. When I was in Milwaukee for the H-D 100th in 2003 I met a fairly large contingent of Scots who rode clear across the U. S. wearing their kilts the whole way!
Jamie
P.S. I figure that I'm still answering the "only one choice" question since my riding suit is safety equipment, not pants in the traditional sense. I get out of the riding suit as quick as humanly possible when I get where I'm going.
