This is great news! Congratulations to Nathan and his parents. I hope we get to see some pictures from Nathan's prom with him kilted and in full formal attire.
As it has through the centuries, the kilt has prevailed.

He really did more than ONE thing wrong. I’d love to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I have seen no response, reaction or act on his part that is worthy of praise or recognition. If he has been a model educator for his entire career, he clearly betrayed everything a public school educator should stand for in one swell foop.
TRUST: He decided he could not trust his students NOT to create an inappropriate disturbance in reaction to a very nice kilt worn by a young man with obvious dignity.
RESPECT: He openly disrespected a student and plainly belittled him in front of others.
HONOR & INTEGRITY: He lied about what he had said, citing that he did not recall the inappropriate remarks he had made to the student, in front of witnesses.
HISTORY & TRADITION: He showed little regard for his own ethnic traditions and the customs being recognized and embraced by others.
KNOWLEDGE: He showed ignorance in the history and background of the kilt.
UNDERSTANDING, EMPATHY... or lack thereof.
What he did was clearly an abuse of power and the way he responded to it all early on showed a serious lack of character. The fact is, this was a valuable learning opportunity for the whole school and he attempted to squash it by expediently violating Nathan's rights. He was afraid there would be discipline issues and he did not want to deal with the inappropriate behavior that might have come about. He was being lazy and it blew up in his face.

MacClard also showed great disrespect and distrust for his subordinates in this situation. His Vice-Principal had already okayed the kilt for the dance.

I did not know that the Vice Principal had already okayed it.
That just looks bad. Looks like everyone went through the proper channels, and still got stymied.
I hope it works better for my son, who has decided to present his request to wear his full, formal kilt outfit on the last day of school.
Hey, it's not against the dress code....haha

Hang on though, it's all very well for a school board to apologise, most of them had nothing to apologise for.
Surely it should have been the Principal that should apologise?
Better than nothing I suppose.

Somebody knows if Nathan is member of our Xclan?
If not, ... I think he deserves a place here as a honor member for his defense of kilting against all! Being so young, he acted as the ideal highlander, fighting for all that his kilt and tartan simbolised.
Somebody agrees??
ˇSalud!

This is what the proverbial '15 minutes of fame' can do for some folks.
