I'm currently working on a MARPAT camo kilt. At first I wasn't crazy about any camo kilt. But then I saw a few pics here and the rugged look of them
put them up a notch on my list.
Camo is coming back in style as casual wear. I saw loads of 30 something guys wearing camo cargo shorts.

Camo Kilts
I have two in wooland camo--a UK original and a Sportkilt Boulder. The SK is lighter in the sense it has less yardage in the kilt, but the UK is made of a rip-stop type material that is very like the utilities that were part of the Vietnam-era style.
It is that Vietnam connection that attracted me to the woodland camo; it feels almost like a "clan tartan" for Vietnam veterans. This feeling is also what holds me back from getting one in one of the desert or other modern patterns, as I don't feel that I "rate" them, not being part of the "warrior clan" that is wearing them now.

No offense intended here, but... bugger that! I want one in what ever digital camo pattern I can lay hands on for under $20/yard. And that includes the forthcoming USNavy camo:
And the more I see it, the more I want some of the Army's new digital stuff.

Hmm, daft eh? I think most people find the tartans a little odd, so the camo might be yet another hurdle to overcome. As for me I don't prefer them, in fact I don't really like the solid color ones, but I'm coming around. However, who cares! If you like them, go for them! That's the best thing about kilts. I mean I hate suits and ties, but I don't begrudge those that wear them, nor do I do the same to someone in a kilt I don't prefer for myself.
FREEDOM!

i think it all depends on the purpose that you wear it for if you are goin to go huntin in it ya all for it. my only problem with them is that people will then start thinkin that the kilt is a costume and not a garment.

while the camo kilts look great, and I may end up getting one, i've got a question:
why would you want to wear a camoflauge kilt when people won't be able to see you?

The original purpose of camo kilts was for hunting wild haggis.

I love camo kilts
My collection of camo kilts - and camo fabrics for camo kilts - is large and keeps growing.
I like the military ones because they seem to draw positive responses. The hunting ones and the novelty ones are just for the novelty of things. The Goretex camo is earmarked for a lightly pleated "rain kilt" to go over any other kilt. Living in the Mediterranean climate of California, these lighter weight, cotton-based kilts are perfect for everyday wear.
This is by no means the extent of my fabric collection, which includes tropical prints, southwest patterns, plaids of all sorts, and several worsted wool tartans (for the "traditional" look.)

Maybe I'm an old fuddy duddy, but I can think of only two reasons to wear camo print and one involves killing animals, and one involves killing people.
I think they just look silly in other venues, like someone's trying to be noticed by wearing stuff designed not to be noticed somewhere completely different.
I'm not saying they're horribly ugly, I guess I just think of camo the same as I do blaze orange- I see someone in it and think, "Dude, there's no deer in a downtown club!"
