Ron is actually the ONLY ex Mil Coll guy I've ever heard say he was never cut out to be an Officer. Everyone else made lame excuses. To me, this shows his real strength. I served over, and under, guys with considerably less intestinal fortitude than Ron has shown in his original post.
Cheers Ron.

As an educator for the past 25 years I've seen every possible variation on this theme, most not as happy an ending as yours. Congratulations to you for sticking it out.

Congratulations - I hope you enjoy your day. I know something of what you experienced.
I was awarded a BSc last year, many years after failing to complete a BA degree - but due to my selecting courses with a high difficulty level when the rules were changed I had more than enough to get a BSc.
I don't think I stopped grinning for three days after I got the news.

Out Frickin Standing!!!
I failed out of school twice and joined the USCG for 8 years, started over from scratch at the community college level and finished at the University of Texas at the age of 34. I know what that joy feels like. The pride is overwhelming and I send you much cheer!

Congrats, Ron. And hey, if I'm not mistaken the Royal Roads had a band called the Castle Gary Pipe and Drums Band. It just so happens that I picked up one of the band kilts on Ebay some time ago. A 13 oz. wool eight yarder in the Fraser Tartan pleated to the stripe. After some fairly extensive alterations (it had been sized down to a 28 inch waist from about a 32) I wore it out last night for the first time. Nice. I only regret having lost the auction for the matching glengarry and kilt belt.
I've kilt for less.

I don't think the band is associated with RRU any more. I understand that they are a good band though. They're sometimes lovingly referred to as "Cash & Carry".

I'm sure there will be some good piping at Ron's ceremony! And I totally agree with Moosehead's most recent post.
