I saw a plate at the Michigan Ren Fest years ago that read:
TLTD KLT

I like "KILT UP"
But already have a vanity plate, over 15 years now, "HP AA ME" which is how I stay sober, my Higher Power, the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous, and my own efforts.
And staying sober is more important to me than anything else...including kilts...without sobriety, it all falls apart.

Amen. Been sober since June 6 (relapse) but had ten months sobriety before that day. I just can't touch a drop anymore, aside from Communion wine.

This has absolutely nothing to do with kilts, but I want Riverkilt to hear of my extemely odd drinking pattern.
I chug-a-lug from early April until mid October. More specifically, I have my first beer of the year at the Colorado Rockies home opener (which I ALWAYS attend), and have my last sip at the last out of the World Series (which I ALWAYS watch on TV). So, in short, I only drink alcohol 7 months of the year. Otherwise, it's O'Douls for me. I think it keeps me in check.
But I am wearing my kilt when I go to the bar with friends in the winter, so I am manly even drinking a non-alcohol beer.

I also already have a custom plate:
...which completes the sentence that begins, "When life hands you lemons..."
It is a reminder of a particularly challenging year, the one in which I turned 40, walked out of a 13 year relationship that had turned sour, lost my job of 17 years, and totaled my 4-cylinder Saturn.
But, I've always looked forward to being older than I am, I'm happier on my own, needed new job anyway and got one where I was paid more and better appreciated for my contributions (and had a terrific three month summer "vacation"), and bought a 6-cylinder Lexus with the insurance money.
Ohio residents can preview custom plates by going to the Ohio BMV web site. Users may choose a plate type and the system will tell you what will fit and whether your message is available.

ObKilt: My ex would NOT have supported my kilt-wearing, either.

My plates are now old, very weathered, and on need of replacement. I'm thinking about getting vanity plates containing the word "kilt". In Ontario, custom plates may be up to 8 characters and I've been playing with a few possibilities ->
UP*KILTS
KILTS*UP
KILTCHEX
99*KILTS
GO*KILTS
KILTSAYE
KILTS4ME
GOKILTED
Anyone have any other suggestions??
Obviously, it has to be checked by the government office for duplication etc. but it's fun to consider the idea.
thanx

Blu,
How about KILTED1? Or, GOT KILT... Personally, I like to be a bit anonymous, so both of my cars wear normal plates, although one of them has the new Washington "Lighthouses" plates, which help pay for the maintenance and restoration of the Admiralty Head lighthouse in Puget Sound... Normally, I just get the standard issue "Evergreen State" plates with Mt. Rainier on them, but I decided it was time for a change.

Sure, I can understand where you're coming from on that but, isn't part of wearing a kilt standing out from the rest of the crowd? I think we sort of give up a bit of our anonymity when we dare to venture forth in a kilt.
"There goes the wacky kilted guy again".
The kilt is a noticeable statement to the world... and a vanity plate would just be an extension of that.
I just got back from the North American Pipe Band Championships a few hours ago and saw US plate (couldn't read what state it was from - possibly NY) that read "pipesup" which was pretty cool.

Hey Blu! How was Maxville? My daughter told me that our band (Mohawk Valley Frasers) took 4th in the Grade 3 championships. Wish I could have been there!

Maxville was great!... I'll be posting on that shortly. (Just got back a couple of hours ago.)
Was it someone in your group with the "pipesup" plates?
