Check out Auld Argonian's post on this. He has at least 1 SWK (nightstalker) and has no problem. Now, AA and I have met for a few events, and he is about (jump in John) 5' 7" - 5' 9". I am a solid 6' 3". AA wears his higher at a more traditional height. I wear more lower and closer to (but not directly on) the hips. So you can get wear one with no problem. I'll tell you what, get the Saffron (it will go well with the new brown belt!), and I will get the solid green one, and we will both post pics to show the comparison of the same length kilt on different height gents. And maybe I can get AA to post a similar pic!

    And maybe...

Hey AA, need a new kilt? Got a solid black one yet? That would round us out and we could show an SWK on 3 gents of different heights. Might help others to have a better feel for the SWK length.

Maybe Jerry would give us a discount for being models!
I begin to reconsider the SWK Saffron . . .

    Unhappy a sale?!

oh shoot! SWK has a sale and I have no money to spare! and to add insult to injury, US$122 = AUS$160.... and $160 for a heavyweight wool kilt is a bargain in anyone's language!

I could just about cry into my beer (or would do if I had a beer to cry into! )

    *sigh*

    Welcome.

    Rex.
No, I have a SWK Standard BW and an 8yd MacDonald of the Isles "tank", My wife likes the Irish Saffron and goaded me into buying it when I saw the sale.

I'm fairly new to the kilt even though my wife's been after me for years to get one. I passed up getting one at Geoffery Taylor while we were traveling in Scotland early last spring (an 8yd off-the-rack BW that was 130 BP w/VAT) and she's given me trouble ever since, so a couple of months ago I took the plunge. I think I'm the only man who wears a kilt (on occasion, not exclusively) in the eastern end of Va. and get quite a few double takes!

FWIW big people, I'm only 5'6'' and my kilt is 24'' long. It fits just above or on the knee and although I'm not wearing it just now, I'm sure it's only max. 2" above my navel. The size on the label is for an even more diminutive soldier than me, IIRC something like 5'2'' - 5'4''.

    I'd get a 24'' again.

I'm glad I found this thread 2 days into the sale. SWK Sale kilts in my size are no longer available, so you lads have saved me some expense. Thank you!

Yeah, my size seems to be gone too. Good thing for now. Or is it? I should start saving for a semi-trad from USAK, a UK Original and a . . . maybe another semi-trad from USAK

I'm looking forward to getting more kilts . . . and an Argyll jacket in tweed with matching waistcoat, a kilt suit from 21stCK, some nice brogues and a a jacobite shirt or three, a sgian dubh . . . The list goes on. But I sure do love wearing the kilt!

2 kilts on the way, none in the closet

O Lord, I'm in trouble now! I kept looking at the 36" SWK Saffon, saying "you can wait for the Gordon from Scotland (mid September target)". Then I looked at the price. Then I reached for my wallet.

What'll I tell the wife? She's not as "enthusiastic" about this as are my Kinder. Oh well.

OK, got the solid green! Should be here by Monday or so, knowing Jerry's service. Alas, I will be in FL looking after the house and will have to wait until I return to get it!

My wife is going to kill me

I knew I shouldn't have looked at this thread last night. My wife was just telling me about how I shouldn't waste to much money on this "kilt thing" but I was having dreams about one of those Saffron kilts and ordered a 36" this AM. And since it's on sale I just had to have another pair of stockings and that sporran cantle set. Oh man, she's going to kill me. Good thing I head out of town on Sunday. I'd better lay low until then.
