Well if you have to get another D ring perhaps that was what was wrong with it. I'm Jealous, I ordered mine a day before you and it hasn't shown up yet. Curse them Canada Customs.

I wear a Nightstalker for backpacking. I use a length of 3/4" nylon webbing straight through the loop on the back of the sporran as a strap (no D-rings; the webbing has a buckle). After 1,500 miles the loop on the back of the sporran has begun to fray, so I'll either have to sew or replace it. I'll probably patch it up now, and will likely have to do so again in the field. At first I was like, "What the...cheap piece of sporran can't hold itself together!" and then I thought about what I'd just put it through. In that time I wore through two pairs of shoes, and a shirt rotted (literally) off my back.

I just ordered a nightstalker sporran today. I plan on using it most of the time, as it will be the first "real" sporran I'll own. I suspect there will still be times I want to use the waist pack with the studded belt, but I'm looking forward to the nightstalker. I guess I can say, "Let the jonesing begin!"

Caribiner type D ring, not the d ring on the strap thingy.

Worn mine to a class on post today. Just looped it onto a belt, loaded it up and away I went. Absolutely love it!

Andrew.
My Nightstalker is currently the only sporran I own. I wear it daily (kilt or no) and it also is fraying, but it is in no way a fault of the construction.
This thing has been worn constantly over the last year, commuting to and from work, constantly being shifted back and forth. For the price and the use I get out of it, I will be replacing it with another when it does wear out! (though I will repair the loop too!)
I am also one of those that asked Jerry to make a leather one as well, and I know I will get one of those as well!
Thanks Jerry!

I think I will definitely be getting one of these sporrans. The only other one I have looks really nice, but its not at all practical.
