Totally off-topic but funny (to me)

    Sorry y'all,

But I can't get over how much reading Nanook's posts remind me of one of my little brothers - the tone, the wording - it just kills me!

Personally I am keeping a weather eye on the sides of the road in some of the areas around a couple of our rivers here in North Florida. The next time I find a Beaver that has met its doom courtesy of a brush with a car and is in decent shape..... Hello dress sporran.

HUH... with all the hunting here in Colorado, I should be able to come up with something! Now I just have to find out when mink stole season is!!

Oh, I'm graciously offering to lead a hunting expedition for the following animals - Snipe, Jackalope, Hornswaggler, and the elusive Oompa-Loompa (Just think, you can use the whole Oompa-Loompa!) Don't worry about licenses, "I'll get those for you!" And the whole hunting expedition is only $199 USD + the cost of lodging in Colorado!! I accept cash and a variety of precious metals!

What about Nutria fur for a sporran? Its not protected and is aquatic so it should be fairly water resistant. Anyone made or have a sporran with Nutria fur?

I passed a beautiful dead skunk on the side the road a few days ago and actually thought about picking it up, my wife would have killed me. It actually didn't smell much as I recall and the stripes were snow white. Oh, well, wouldn't have know what to do with it anyway, but a skunk sporran, theres a conversation starter!

Do a quick search for "nutria." If I remember right, the general consensus was nice fur, but the skin was too thin/tore too easily for sporran-making.

I see alot of Nutria around here, the thought of using one for sporran fur never crossed my mind, but I know nothing about tanning/stitching furs. So my knowledge is pretty useless here.
