I needed to hem my first kilt and wasn't able to do it for myself. I took it to the nearest tailor and she said that she had worked on kilts for pipe bands before. She hemmed it with a blind stitch and nobody can tell. It cost me about $25. My length is closer to 22" than SWK's standard 24". If it isn't a made to measure then go ahead and get the right size for you and don't worry about it.

Well, its official. My SWK was too big.

Anyone ever been mad about losing weight?

Seriously, emailed SWK and Jerry said they don't have any size 38's in stock. BUT i can exchange for a Black Watch. which is what i'm going to do.

Everybody was right about Jerry, he's a really good guy.

My first kilt *blackwatch tartan' is too big for me now, I can wear it above my new kilt *MacDonald tartan*... Brings a new dimension to the "what's under yer kilt" question

Now THERE's an interesting solution to the "layering for cold weather" problem!
