I like them, they have their place. When I wear a kilt I wear the shirt I would wear with pants. The kilt is a serious garment, not a play thing for me. What others wear is up to them.

I have one, I mostly only wear it to renn fairs though.

When you said that I went looking at american kilt makers sites and you're right. The pictures all seem to be the puffier sleeved variety. Although, check out the shirts at Sport-Kilt. The black, white and natual ones seem like what I bought in Scotland whereas the blue and green are much more er.. Erol Flynn looking to me.
Also check out scottishkilts.net and kiltstore.net. They have some nice looking shirts.
