This picture has been begging to come out.

In 1992, this magazine made a comment that if Niall Mackenzie ever got on the podium (first 3 places) in a GP they'd print the words to Scotland the Brave on every page of the magazine. This was the result when he did it, the mag has Scots references all through it as well as the words to Flower of Scotland and Scotland the Brave printed in the page footer finishing with "and if Rupert ever promises anything of the sort again I'll probably resign"

More kilted bike pics scattered through it too.

    The magazine is a keeper.

THAT is a Mag I want, if ONLY for the pics!!!

And I'm not really even a bike fan!!!
(I am more interested in small open cars, like Lotus 7, Elan, Porsche 550 Spyder, and the like. My Miata is my current "sensible substitute," until I get my Miata-based 7-esque machine-> almost a 4 cylinder, 4 wheeled bike)

PS-> IF anyone has this mag and can get me scans of the tartan bike and tartan related pics, I'd be EXTREMELY excited!!!!

Canadian_Kilt...what do you have for a ride?

Sadly at the moment I am currently without a bike and have been for about 1.5 years. I am hoping to be able to get another one next summer. I have owned 3 bikes. My first was a 1998 Honda CBR600F3 Smokin' Joes edition, which I loved but wanted something a little bigger. The 2nd was a 2001 Honda CBR929RR, which was my favorite of the 3. The last one was a 2003 Ducati Monster 1000Sie Senna. This was a very close 2nd to the 929. I had 2 complaints about it - primarily it was not as comfortable as the 929 despite being more upright. I got pain in my forearms after about 2 hours of riding, and my rear hurt after about 3. I could ride that 929 all day long and the only thing that ever suffered was my knees. If it had even 1 more inch of legroom it would have been perfect. My second complaint was it did not have very decent fuel range. 929 would go 250-275 km on a tank of fuel .. the monster was lucky to get 180 because it has such a small tank.

For my next ride, I'm eyeing several bikes. Honda VFR, CBR1000RR, the Ducati ST3. Most likely is the VFR. Actually I would like to get a used VFR AND either another used 929 or 600F3/F4. I also wouldn't mind a BMWR1100S.

Regarding Jeans - no offence to anyone but riding in jeans is not ever likely to help any one. It's better than shorts by about 5 feet when sliding on concrete. They might protect your skin if you bail going around a corner at 30KPH .. but that's about it. If you don't like wearing leathers (and I admit they can be cumbersome), google up a pair of Draggin Jeans. They're jeans with kevlar woven in and some padding in the joints. They look and wear like jeans but will still offer decent protection in a crash.

Nice selection of past bikes, CK! I'm not a big fan of sport bikes, but I always drool every time I see or hear a Ducati.

As for wearing jeans, you're right. They won't really protect you in a fall. However, I'm willing to take that risk. My riding style is very laid back and slow most of the time. On the highway I'll toss on a pair of chaps for a bit more protection.

And if something goes wrong the ladies will love the scars right?

I'm sorry, but I think that advice is a bit irresponsible.

    EVEN MORE off topic.

    Ever ride a ZRX1200R?

    http://www.motorcycledaily.com/26mar...1zxr1200r.html

I've put several 900 mile days in on mine and it's comfy. Will give you what you liked about the other bikes performance wise too, but at a lower RPM. If you're ever in my area, drop me a line, you can take if for a spin. Well, that is if Lynn isn't out on it. I swear she puts more miles on my bike than hers.

Draggin Jeans are awsome. Lynn and I both wear them.
