    Finally finished. . . nearly

Well today I signed my contract and got sworn in. I am currently in the Advanced Electrical program, but I should be signing a new contract on Monday for Nuclear engineering. They were waiting on paperwork, and due to the number of times I have had to go back and forth, I was ok with signing my contract and waiting to switch my MOS when they got all my paper work processed. I am really excited about all this. I honestly cant wait to ship out and get boot camp over with, though I know it will be a few months before I do. OH, and now I am getting a kilt in the Navy tartan thanks to the generosity of a board member! I love XMTS!

Being a nuke will be tough BB. Nuke school is a bit like completing a 4yr engineering degree in 18 months.

    Good Luck!!!!

May I suggest that you start a simple exercise program. It is one thing that you can do now that can help prepare you for basic. This is one way to get a leg up and more physically prepared you are at the start the more mentally prepared you are. It is easier to pay attention in the class room secessions if every bit of your body hurts.

Good luck from a former Army member and thanks for your service.

Congratulations! My dad, himself a former nuke sub engineer, says not to wear your kilt on the sub, even if it is in the Navy tartan

I hadnt planned on it, but thanks for the advice. And cacunn, I have started to work out as much as my schedule will let me. Between college, work, homework, and sleep, exercise is hard to fit in.

I am now a Nuke! Just signed my new contract today. Unfortunatley that pushes my ship date to Nov 6. . . . What am I supposed to do between now and then. Well, at least it gives me more time to tie up loose ends.

Again, congratulations. All of the advise so far offered is spot on, especially the bit about working out before you ship out for basic. Check with your hotel manager and ask him if you can sneak in to the exercise room for 30 minutes before/after your shift.
