My great uncle was a letter carrier for the USPS. I wonder what he would have thought about the kilt. I think it's a fine idea.

This issue has been bouncing around for a few years. UK had originally backed the idea of getting carriers into kilts, but has withdrawn. The idea for the postal blue kilt was a spin-off of the postal youth fashion that popped up with House of Pain in the early '90's. It keeps coming back around.
As a UK guy, I like the idea. However, I don't see it happening. If I get on with the USPS, then I'll support it. Will Steven work with the USPS to design/create a specific USPS UK? His business sense will tell him yes. He wants UKs to go more mainstream.
This could make kilts as a whole more mainstream.

it just might be more comfortable to walk around in, too, than shorts.

The women may like the idea and wear the kilt themselves

Female carriers have the choice of skirts, cullotes, shorts and trousers. Given that bifurcated garments are approved for female use, how can they deny UN-bifurcated items to the men?

I have always said that men have gotten the short end of the stick as far as clothing choices go....

Would you have to wear tartan boxers? The postal tartan is a good colour for a more traditional Kilt.

Maybe it's because I wear a kilt, I don't see anything really wrong with the picture. I think giving the postal service the opportunitiy to be comfortable as they're out delivering the mail a wonderful thing. The only downside I can think of is whether or not the carrier can stay on schedule with so many people coming up to comment on the kilt.

Excellent idea.A modern style Kilt for a modern nation. Certainly more comfortable than shorts, especially if in and out of a van. Utilikilts are great, look very professional, and 'non-national'. In most people's minds Tartan equates with Scottish. A solid color would probably be more acceptable for Carriers, Postal workers etc.
Most of my kilts are Tartan, but I do have two or three 'modern' style kilts.
