Get a Buchanan kilt as your first one. Then get another one and another one. :-)

The Bucahan tartan can be rather, uh, loud.

    Hello and welcome from Houston.

I also wear the Buchanan tartan - the Hunting Modern, as my father's mother's mother was a Gibb.

    Wow

Thanks for all the replys! I had a feeling this would be the case, can't wait to get my first kilt. Now I am wondering; I don't have a lot of extra money, I have two young girls and work for the County Sheriff's Office. From reading on this board it would seem to me that the Stillwater Kilts are pretty decent for the price. Are there any other 'beginner' kilts you guys would recommend?

    Thanks,

    Luke

    Welcome SLC,

I'm just below the Utah border here. As for the tartans I wear many of my ancesteral tartans. Love honoring those lines, and proud lines they are...sure, have Macdonald tartans but also Gordons, and Frasier and Cameron and Gunn and Scott.

If you add regional and military tartans you can develop quite a list from your family history. Enjoy the journey.
