One. I only wear my kilt as family heritage. I have considered an all black,Black Watch or other non clan-specific tartan but I don't have any desire to wear kilts of other clans. I may at some time, when funds allow, pick up a "knock around" MacDonald variant or Clergy tartan. I would like to know what you all refer to as "tanks". Especially since I read one post of his tanks being 20 & 22 oz. kilts.

Hmmm...I've purchased 62 kilts. Still own 31 but looking to sell two Utilikilts I've outgrown.
Have 11 tanks, ten by Kathy Lare, one by Celtic Croft.
I have two leather kilts, an RKilt and a Utilikilt
Have a LOT of USA Kilts
Have a Freedom Kilt
Have a SportKilt
Five of my kilts are in various Macdonald tartans.
I have a Royal Air Force tartan kilt, a Leatherneck tartan kilt, a U.S. Army tartan kilt, and a U. S. Navy tartan kilt.
I love kilts. Wear them a lot.

Six kilts (in the order I got them)
1. An 8 yard Solid Black PV (Ideal Kilt for an Englishman... Tartan free)
2. An 8 yard Black Watch PV (Grant Hunting, family connection)
3. An 8 yard MacLeod Ancient PV (I wanted another and I liked the pretty colours on this one... not a good reason I know!)
4. An 8 yard Bruce Modern Lochcarron Strome hand sewn (family connection, my best and most important kilt to me. I am still in awe...)
5. An 8 yard Johnstone Modern Strathmore 13oz machine sewn, pleated to stripe (impulse buy. Wanted a dark coloured, stripe pleated wool kilt but my name's not Gordon it's John... Mmmmm, haven't quite got the hang of this 'connection by name' idea yet have I?...)
6. An 8 yard Australian National in Heavyweight Wool. (long story) It's arrived by the way.
Haven't as yet seen Kilts number 5 & 6 as I'm away from home through work at the moment. I should be back on Tuesday so I’ll kick off a couple of new threads then to show them to everyone when I return.

Just got numbers 6 and 7 in the mail this week, with another that should arrive anyday now, and one in the que of kilt mistress (and I mean that in a very GOOD way) Barb T as we speak. Fabric for two more either in hand or in transit.
I guess I have reached the point of addiction, eh, Ron?

Got my first kilt in August '08 and currently have 13:
2 SWK standards (Irish National, Black Watch)
2 SWK heavyweights (green shadow tartan, MacRae Ancient Hunting)
3 UK (a custom denim and 2 originals)
2 USAK casuals (Douglas, American Heritage)
1 USAK 5 Yarder (Ramsay blue)
2 Amerikilts (Black, Olive)
1 Sport Kilt (Comfy--I also had an SK Hunting original but I loaned to my brother-in-law to wear in Hawaii and he liked it so much he refused to give it back )
To try to curb my addiction I've "decided" my next kilt will be a hand sewn 8 yard tank. Hopefully the DTs from laying off the "off the rack" quick fix won't be too debilitating

I have a total of 8.
I just recently received a casual kilt in Stuart modern made by Burnett's & Struth and I am very pleased with it as a house kilt. This means I don't care if the pleats get mooshed. My seven others I wear for piping gigs, Highland games, Highland games fund-raisers, Rabbie Burns Suppers, other semi-formal dinners, pub crawls, kilt nights, weddings, etc. I don't wear my kilt every day, although I salute those who do, but I do wear it more frequently than just when I'm piping.
Two kilts are in my clan tartans. There are other tartans for my clan that would require a special weaving, for which I am preparing.
