'We have the technology. We can rebuild him.'

Alternating sleep/rest and exercise - couldn't get better advice for recovery - I hope all goes well and the results are splendifferous, even the scar.

Any advice on pre surgery conditioning or what to do to speed recovery would be appreciated
I don't know how to speed recovery, but a nice bottle of single malt and some classics on DVD sure do make the time go by easier!

Glad to hear you are back. I didn't know you were gone.
There are so many post each day and only so much time to read and get work done.
I just saw about your operation and can feel for you I had ACL and HTO several years ago and know the recovery Fun and Pain. Don't try to recover to fast as stated above but do keep up the therapy. I had my surgery in Sep. and by Mar I was out X-Country skiing on the flats. It's fun using crutches in the snow and ice. NOT.
As for the scar and minimizing it you can get Comfery Salve:
    http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/comfrey-000234.htm

    http://health.howstuffworks.com/comf...l-remedies.htm

I used a combination of Comfrey and Boneset in a salve, Topic. If in a tea form consult with a Herbalist at a real health food store not GNC.

I can't speak to knee replacement but my rotator cuff surgery was enough years ago that the scar is long and ugly. No little arthroscopic stuff for me. I will tell you that PT is tough. It hurts like the blazes and it is easy to give up on it. Don't do that!! I was a pretty good baseball player before I had my surgery. I played a good short and second base. By not following up on my pt I lost the throwing range in my right arm and can no longer throw for distance or with any heat. My youngest daughter was a very good little-leaguer playing with the boys and for years we played a lot of catch. I always ended those sessions in great pain. All because I was a sissy on the pt. Stick with it any you will be fine. Good luck.
