Be careful with that velvet, it can be very difficult to work with. If you haven't already, you might want to read up on working with velvet.

Ok, I had to look it up. I knew that Panache has a dark blue doublet in the style having a belt. Turns out it is a Montrose, as far as I can tell.

I don't find anything about any other doublets with belts, so if there is one it would be good to know the name.

Well about the topic of large guys in the Scottish regiments:
    - I recently bought an ex-army No2 Dress jacket with 48 inch chest, 42 inch waist, and made for a person 6 foot 4 inches tall. That's me to a "T" right now!!
-Back around 1800 the Black Watch had a private described as a "giant". I have a book that talks about him somewhere but I can't find it at the moment.
-Back in the 1960's there was a huge Pipe Major of the Black Watch named Anderson IIRC. I think they called him "The Big Ugg". Here he is:

Here's the jacket style seen over and over again from the 1860's up through the 1930's. I have literally dozens of old photos of pipers and non-pipers wearing this same style. No one seems to make it any more. An old Highland Dress catalogue mentions a "Celtic Jacket" and I'm wondering if that is what they called this style:

Jamie's Doublet is a Sheriffmuir and I believe it is Black, I have a Montrose, it is also Black.

Oops! Sorry. I think I just misread one of his posts about white tie. That's probably why I was having a difficult time looking it up; never mind.
Sheriffmuirs are good, though. I'm still not finding any other doublets mentioned that have belts.

    * These are a couple of the posts that confused me about the Panache doublet:

    Just mixed up.

Um, going by all of the pictures, which look like photobucket links to me, those are Montrose doublets. I guess that is what MacLowlife is refering to then. I can't find anything else; it would have been neat if there were though.

Here's a link to my own thread, from way back when, on the non-cookiecutter kilt jackets:

That doublet is pretty much the basic "regulation doublet." Just a few bits added for a piper, and slightly different tailoring and button placement, but nonetheless aregulation doublet.
