Change is never going to please all the people all the time.
Surely we can be adults and agree to quietly differ about some things, yet still be friends.
Give Steve a chance, he has made a lot of personal sacrifice with the best of intention.

Pages were white and ink was black so all it took was no imagination. While we're at it can we discuss the stupidity of retaining the qwerty keyboard? It was designed to slow down typers so the arms (remember those?) didn't get stuck together. No more arms clacking, but we still suffer the design.
I don't "suffer" the design. I like it. It's what I learned to type on, and I'm not aware of any alternative that's any better. Why do you think it's so horrible?

Cavscout, all I can say is I sympathize... it's like we "kids" are left to figure out what's happening while the parents argue behind a closed door. We can hear the muffled shouts, but can't make heads or tails of what's really going on. Like trying to wrestle with ghosts.
Clearly some good folks here have issues. But if it's something that should be dealt with in private, they should do so...in private. If they want to deal with it in public, that's their right. But this wink, wink, hint, hint stuff is wearing thin and in and of itself, has the potential to become as corrosive as whatever conflict inspired it.

The most information I could find was here in a locked thread.
http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...76/index3.html
Unfortunately both Mr. Bradley and McMurdo's posts were lifted from the thread.
I also sincerely hope that the issues will be dealt with and relationships restored. X-marks seemed a magical place when I first came last fall. It seems to have gone downhill this year...

Correction and don't believe what the Censor wants you believe. Post from Mr. Ashton was removed as well. He dropped hints that he will be reading people's pm from now on.

It's clear that someone is doing some public talking about it so it's high time this unspoken issue be spoken openly so that the truth is known by all. Bringing things like this up via innuendo is a cowardly, passive-aggressive way to handle things. Grow a pair and speak openly and honestly and let the members you are trying to convince have all the information and make their own decision. If you claim you aren't trying to convince anyone then you are not being very honest, otherwise you would not be posting on the open forum.
I was aware of the situation because I am a friend of the affected individuals. They didn't want to make the incidents public knowledge. Unfortunately they have friends that care and that they didn't like what they saw. shoot me an email, if you want to know more. my email is in my profile and I will not use the Pm on this system.

I just came in to pick up my load of daily drama...if this keeps up any more, you're all gonna lose your man cards, and your kilts and hose will be pulled for skirts and knee-highs to match the 13yo-girl-on-myspace gossip. Srsly. ![Rofl](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/rofl.gif)
...So I'm just gonna digress.

If you want to see who I'm razzing , you can go back and read through the thread .

Qwerty keyboard is different...that is a matter of memory and a learned skill. A study many years ago showed that owls raised with prisms fitted over their eyes (like glasses) would learn to hunt as effectively as owls without...their brains (and ours) adapt. People learned to deal with the jumbled keys, and the problem simply...returned.
If you want to really slow somebody down, pry the M and N keys off, and switch them. We used to prank people like this all the time...had to stop when we were laughing so hard we started disturbing other people around us, we'd spelled out "pig****er" on a guy's keyboard while he was at lunch...anyway...
I don't think keyboard jumbling is the same as bouncing more electrons off a CRT so you can show where text isn't...that's just inefficient and downright silly, and it was probably thought up in an epic storm of unimagination..."let's make it look like blank paper!"...and meanwhile those of us who grew up on monochrome CRTs and use computers for more than writing memos were grinding our teeth at the effect of someone shining a flashlight in our eyes. What happens when you let the business department near a computer? Y2K bugs and wasted electrons .
the colour font on what colour background, a tartan border of the fact that I no longer have a title of Defender of the Rubber chicken or whatever it was.
Were people really, seriously, cranky about that? I mean...I was serious...but...changing the color of the proverbial prom cake is right about at the bottom of the list, if not scrawled on the back of a wet napkin with a dry erase marker and crammed deep in a pocket to be forgotten until laundry day.
I'm deeply concerned. Concerned that my time here is not long. Banned, no longer posting? Who knows.
Well, don't fall on your sword just yet, because if you ride your drama llama over to That Other Forum, I'm gonna have second thoughts about signing up there...cuz the place seemed cool enough, but I dunno what it's gonna be like if a bunch of drama queens in skirts show up hinting darkly about The X-Marks Clearances Conspiracy.
It's a mystery to me...probably ought to get the Hardly Boys in here to solve it.
Perhaps i that crazy old guy on the street corner whose only earthly posessions are a torn rubber chicken in his pocket and a sandwich board that reads "The End Is Nigh" but imagine, if I'm right at what cost will that be?
The end will only be nigh if our kilt forum becomes a refuge for crossdressers trying to borrow legitimacy. Til then, we need more rubber chickens and fewer dramatic posts, or the next run of X-Marks tartan will be turned in to capes that people can swirl vampyre-like about themselves as they walk away from the keyboard after yet another ep1c poast.
We need to see the rubber chicken in a kilt. More humor, more beer, more whiskey, less llama-riding.
Amen. Yes. Please.
This is a marvelous, and marvelously disparate, group of people. We all have different points of view, biases, wants, and needs. We are marvelously human, and all deeply flawed. However, we all need to start enjoying ourselves, and one another's points of view, once again. And, well, ... kilts.
What he said! ![Very Happy](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
All this partisan sniping and whining is honestly quite nauseating. The level of selfishness and pride being shown is shameful. Any effort to be constructively critical for the benefit of the forum is being lost by all the cryptic mentioning of some unspoken slight shown toward some non-specific someone. If you know something then spit it out. Otherwise, keep it to yourself or deal with it in private.
...

All the threads being started about the same crap, all the whining and bickering over the mythical "problem" need to get aired so it can be dealt with, resolved and moved on.
And what he said! You're being awfully polite there...I was gonna call it "bitching".
He dropped hints that he will be reading people's pm from now on.
ayfkm? (Can I say that here?)

Well, apparently, they did want to make the information public, because they told someone who would make it public on their behalf.
I imagine a good number of the group are hiding trunks under their kilts, because something's got their junk in a bind.
It's about time to pull up a Mac 18 (because anything younger is downright illegal) and chill with a good fantasy novel while I wistfully yearn for the days of my youth as a paper-and-dice RPG gamer, with some angry piobaireach in the background, but I'm at work, so (you have to visualize this since I don't have a web cam) I'll settle instead for dramatically punching the 'Submit Reply' button, standing so fast the chair flies back and hits the wall, swirling my cape around my nose, and striding out of the office.

I have always enjoyed my time on XMarks, I have learned so much. This site has given me the opportunity to meet some very nice folks, and I have enjoyed the events it has led me.
I have gained a lot of knowledge about kilts and kilt wearing, and I plan to continue to learn, as long as Jock, and other members care to share their vast wealth of knowledge. I hope this continues, and at some point, I am able to pass good information on to others.
I appreciate everything Steve is trying to accomplish, I understand its a work in progress. Changes come in spurts, so the site does not get shut down. Steve has invested a lot of time and money into this site, and he is trying to make things better.. I hope others can share in my patience and let the bugs get worked out.
I will say this.. I am really not interested in others petty squabbles..this is not Peyton Place, its a kilt forum. I really enjoy everyone who posts on here and I miss the ones who have decided to sit things out... I liked the photos and points of views that so many use to post... I pray that we can enjoy these peoples quality efforts once again, and we can all get along...Life is too short, to let small things get in the way of good things...
I keep those of my friends on here, in my prayers, in their times of uncertainty. I truely miss you all.. even though we may or may not communicate.. you are family, to me... and just knowing you are ok, helps make me feel at ease.
Now back to your unscheduled rants....LOL
