Anybody else doing Easter Kilted?

Wearing one right now (Scottish National). Wore my Ancient MacDonald Clanranald (TartanWeb ebay fabric deal), gorgeous Wyvern Leather sporran, and an argyll waistcoat to palm Sunday last week.

I assume you mean nighthawk? He can explain his celebration if he wishes but I know that the name "Easter" originated with the names of an ancient Goddess and God. The Venerable Bede, (672-735 CE.) a Christian scholar, first asserted in his book De Ratione Temporum that Easter was named after Eostre (a.k.a. Eastre). She was the Great Mother Goddess of the Saxon people in Northern Europe. Similarly, the "Teutonic dawn goddess of fertility [was] known variously as Ostare, Ostara, Ostern, Eostra, Eostre, Eostur, Eastra, Eastur, Austron and Ausos." Her name was derived from the ancient word for spring: "eastre." Similar Goddesses were known by other names in ancient cultures around the Mediterranean.

I did not do anything special for Easter this year. Went to dinner at a local place where I normally go on Sunday. USAKilt semi-trad in the Holyrood Tartan. A typical kilt arrangment for me on Sunday.

We are breaking records for the temperatures in April.

Easter attire has been sandals T shirt and tropical kilt of lightweight cotton in a jungle print. The children in the street, home from school as it is the holidays have been outside every day, running up and down screaming most of the time, it must do them good to get outside though.

I have two of those thermometers which are a tube with floating globes - I forget their name.

In the smaller one all the globes have huddled on the bottom by noon each day, that means 26 degrees Celsius or more, but I forgot to look at the big one to see just how warm it actually was.

There will probably be a ban on using hosepipes before long, but I have a sun shade to rig up to protect my chair out on the decking and the chill cabinet plugged in and stocked, so I think I will survive the bank holidays OK.

I can throw the kilt in the washing machine, hang it up before I go to sleep and it is dry by morning.

One of the men at the sun rise service had on a plaid tie, and when he said good morning to me, I gave him a blank bewildered look, because my brain was busy going: plaid tie -> male -> kilt -> why is he not wearing a kilt? Apparently my dendrites are connect in such a way that I associate plaid on males with kilts.

I go to church kilted pretty regularly. Today some of the church ladies were nagging my father-in-law because he wasn't kilted and I was. He is the pastor, and has never worn his kilt to preach. So they were giving him what for.

I was camping and scuba diving this weekend, and I wore my kilt during surface intervals. USAK casual firefighter's memorial. met a few other kilties out there, but none actually kilted at the time.
