I have wondered the same thing. They have not been in business for a few years but the site is still up. Someone is paying for the site and domain name. You have to wonder why. It was pointed out in a post below yours that the phone number has been reassigned. I also called that number a couple of years ago and spoke to that lady. At that time she rather nice about it. From the tone of that message I think she must be getting tired of all the calls.
For an underkilt I use Steve's idea of converting a t-shirt. Works great.

At the weekend I was at the Rosneath Games but the weather was not very good, rain most of the day but despite this the games were quite entertaining.
About 4pm we decided to retire to a hostelry in Kilgreggan where I was immediately asked at the bar by a customer what tartan that I was wearing, I told him that it was Hunting Stewart.
About 40 minutes later I was back at the bar and the same chap asks me out loud if I was wearing anything under my kilt.
Normally you get this question very late in the evening not in the afternoon so I was a bit shocked at his forthright question in front of other customers.
I could only smile and walk away. Usually I would tell most people that I was a true Scot but also do you tell anyone that you are also wearing an underkilt which is basically a lycra tennis skirt

Underkilts
I suppose it might have been tempting fate to ask him what he was wearing under his trousers or his wife under her skirt (if applicable). As I've said elsewhere, I cannot understand why he would even be interested, maybe that was the question to ask.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Tempting fate would have been to state: "You're wife's lipstick." It would also have been rude, but sometimes a rude response is called for. There are consequences to those kind of responses, but not as often as you might think.

Man! I dont understand any of this. I always wear boxer briefs under my kilts. I absolutely hate my man bits dragging in the dirt if I don't. Freedom?!? More like roadrash!! ![Rofl](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/rofl.gif)
But seriously. I remember a thread a few months back about shorts made of extra tartan that used to be worn under the kilt. That would be great in the cooler times.

Underkilts
I was more thinking of the possibility of him offering to show his underwear than provoking a possible physical response. I suspect much depends on how long he had been in the pub.![Very Happy](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
Tartan shorts - don't even think about it. No give. My first kilt came with a pair when I was 8 and I have never forgotten how uncomfortable they were, not to mention my mild wool allergy. Seemingly they got "lost" in the school laundry!
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

If we knew the answer to that question perhaps we would be able to unravel the mystery of why the kilt is so popular

Wondering if the issue is not wanting to wear anything 'under' the kilt...or not wanting to wear anything between their legs to minimize rubbing or chafing? As my own experiment undertaken 2 days ago after reading this thread, I took a pair of black boxers (Fruit of the Loom) recently purchased from 'Wally World' (Walmart-three to a package-black, navy blue, dark grey). I noticed the portion that forms the between the legs section that goes between the legs is longer than the hem on the legs. I took a pair of scissors and cut the seam between the legs apart and pressed the wrinkles from the fabric and marked a new hem with allowance connecting the existing bottom leg hems. Pressed a new folded over hem and sewed it flat...voila, boxers with nothing between the legs. I suppose suppose if someone now asks what you are wearing under your kilt with these, you could pull up the waistband and answer the question...

Yeah but we should never really answer the question. Thats the fun.

Personally, I go along with Tobus’s approach: “Long T-shirts or shirts with long tails work just fine for me.”
So far I have not worn the kilt in circumstances where underwear would be appropriate, but when such an occasion arises I have a good selection of tartan boxer shorts (not real tartans) that will serve admirably.

Mike
