They look great!

Kyle, those buttons are indeed leather. Quite commonly used, actually. I have three ( I think ) jackets in the MacLean collection, with leather buttons.

Wonderful, Sandy! I do like the look of them. I have several Saxon blazers, and even certain cardigan and shawl-collared sweaters that feature such buttons. Very much an 'old-school' look. Classic preppy, in which I love.

THE SPORRAN HAS ARRIVED!!!
It was shipped on October 27 from Inverness, and arrived today, November 3 - wow, fast shipping via Bank of Scotland Post!!! Let me just say, Kate did it again! Her craftsmanship and attention to detail is second to none. I am so impressed with her abilities has a sporran maker, and the Pine Marten pelt/taxidermy work is absolutely beautiful! I am at work just now, so photos are soon to follow.
Cheers!

Not to derail the thread too much, but I recall reading somewhere that Edward VIII (?) once left his bottom waistcoat button undone (whether accidentally or not remains a mystery), which prompted everyone in court to do the same. Not long after, tailors began making waistcoats that were designed to have the bottom button undone, which they continue to do today.

That is the myth and there is probably some truth to it. I have yet to see a photograph of him, however, in Highland attire with the bottom button undone.
