Well, you hurt my feelings. But, I forget whether the offending post was your last one or the one before that. It certainly wasn't any of those in which you are in close proximity to a Celtic or Renn-Faire princess.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

I'm against a like button because I think the forum would lose information value.
At the moment we see who likes (+1s) someones entry. With the like button we would lose that. Ergo everyones like is the same, but if we are honest that is not how it works. Barb T has more knowledge about kiltmaking than I have. Jock Scot has more knowledge about how people wear a kilt in the Highlands...
I think we shouldn't introduce something on this forum that reduces the information value on the forum.

Though you'd be surprised at some of the crankiness those kind of posts have spawned in the past...

My Goodness! Who could get cranky over the juxtaposition of charm and beauty?

I'm a visual person, I like to see the avatar because some usernames are just too similar. And I just wouldn't want to risk something if what we get doesn't add real value to the forum. (In my opinion the like button doesn't add value)

Two points :
1. This forum is about discussion , + 1's appear to be adequate
2. The manner in which the poll questions are asked are slanted :
" Yes , I want a like button " ... or ... " No , I prefer the status quo " .
The wording itself suggests a negative , if one is not in favor of the idea , whereby , trying to encourage people to say yes . This is often the problem when conducting poles .
Perhaps the poll should simply ask :
Like Button on XMarks ?
Yes
No
There should be no need for the added text with the yes or no questions . The additional text sways the response .

Gorsh! I had always figgured Colin as a Scot. (A Canadian Scot, but still...) His poll raises a valid point, regardless of his ethnic heritage.
