Hey all
I've done a little discreet inquiries among my coworkers and they all thought it was a real big hoot when I suggested that I come to work wearing a kilt to a company function.
I actually met the President of the company today, who I had never met, but he had somehow known me by name and muttered something about seeing me on the internet...hmmmmm weird
Anyways.......he seems the type who wouldn't have a problem with kilts if the customers felt the same way, but unfortunately we have a lot of conservative types who come in to pick out tiles and slabs of stone who would be taken aback by a tall longhaired kilted employee walking up to them asking if they need help finding something.
I also think a kilt's pleats wouldn't be very practical for when I jump on and off a forklift several times a day.
Just out of curiosity...what do they call forklifts in other parts of the world?
Just for those who aren't familiar with the name, a forklift is a little truck with 2 flat wide metal prongs which extend out the front which pick up heavy boxes and whatnot around a warehouse.
Obviously this is a dumb, off topic question, but I can be a dumb, off topic kind of guy sometimes :-)
Anyways.......
Take care everyone

Kilts at work
Hey all,
I have been working for a certain wholesale club warehouse based in Issaqua, Washington. I wanted to test the waters, so to speak by wearing a kilt to work ( afterall they just said we could wear shorts..year round) Unfortunately, I will not have that pleasurebecause I was unceremoniously terminated last week..Mind you, that is the only thing that I will miss.
Cheers,
David

Brasilikilt,
They are also called forklifts or forklift trucks in Britain.

I visited a couple of workshops today while doing quotes, one of them all the guys gathered around to see the 'guy in the kilt'. the main comment seemed to be "aren't you cold??" It was a cold day, but tho' in a lightweight kilt, I was warm enough.

Kilts do seem to regulate temperature very nicely so you don't get too hot or too cold. Even my cotton kilt is good that way.

I work in the Federal Gov. (U.S.). Rumor has it a manager in another region said no one in his facility will wear shorts. Well o.k. he can state stricter dress codes. Some of the ladies started wearing skirts on hot days, this is a good thing. Finally this gent that had a pair, says to him self ah ha. Next day he wears a kilt to work. Well the supervisor starts in on him, and this fella says he wants union representation and if the supervisor doesn't cease and desist he'll be looking at an EEO complaint.
Man ya gotta love it even if its just a story.

I think I remember sometime back Bear was photographed on a forklift... never the less, check Bear's customer comments and Glenn MacDonald's photo's where he is operating an ATV. A forklift shouldn't be a problem.

Third or forth hand so who knows. Might be one of those urban legends.
