I love a bunch of Celtic bands, but if we are looking for Celtic Rock Band, I would have to cast my vote for "Bad Haggis." Love that bagtar...a cross between an electric guitar and a bagpipe.

I'm too fickle to settle down to a favorite band. So, I don't really have a favorite, although I listen to a pile of music. Mostly, I listen to 7 Nations, Mudmen, Bad Haggis, Flogging Molly, and Gaelic Storm. They are all great.

You know, Bob, if I ever get back over to see my old flat mate Alan in Battleground we should find a pub with a good band and have a few pints of the dark stuff.

    Good taste, young man!

I have their first four albums (Play Gaelic, Highland Connection, Recovery, Heartland) on vinyl and saw them six times in latter half of the '80s. 'Recovery' is to my mind their best album.

well now, this thread really begs the question......would you be talking about Traditional Highland Celtic Rock or........other ?

At any rate, for me, I won't refer to them as 'rock', but groups such as Skipinnish (no. 1 favourite recording is their album, 'Atlantic Roar') as well as the usual.....Run Rig, Battlefield Band, Burach, Seelyhoo....with several etc. etc. etc.

Wonderful! Nothing compares. And I like both Donnie Munro and Bruce Guthro. Both have incredible vocals.

I also really liked Malcolm Jones's guitar playing.

I saw Seven Nations years ago at the Pleasanton Highland Games and they were my introduction into the world of Celtic rock. Since then, I have discovered other groups that I enjoy: Prydein, Saor Patrol, Wolfstone, Gaelic Storm, Kilmaine Saints,Barleyjuice, Celtica.

Hah! You're all wrong. The correct answer is the Patrick Devlin Band. But, I like the Pogues and Gaelic Storm almost as much.
