Okay, how many are old enough to have heard this when they saw the movie in the theater?

I believe I drank beer while listening to this on more than one occasion.

I do (even at a drive-in theater). How about the theme from, "The Summer of 42." There's one sad tune for beaches as well as tears and beer.

That is a haunting tune. And drive-in theaters - don't get me started.

The movie is pretty good too, except for the terrible miscasting of a nearly 40 year old Kris Kristofferson as Billy, who was about 20 when he died.
Back in 2003, We lost a sister who was the victim of a brain tumor. She was 2 years older than me, and a huge Dylan fan. There are a few Dylan songs that can move me to tears pretty easily, but none more so than this one, which I can hardly bear to listen to anymore.

I used to listen to this LP while drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon.

(I may have been smoking something, as well, but I really cannot remember.)

The sad thing about your post MR. Sinclair, is I was probably at one of those "basement parties" listening to the same music and I can't remember being there either. I call them "foggy memories."

I don't consider this a sad tune. Hermie got lucky.

I guess I am too old to remember these last couple of tunes mentioned. But I am definitely the right age to remember this one.

You're never too old (or young) for fine music. Off the same album by Jim Reeves was "He'll Have to Go". Played at my house when I was smaller but I understood it then as I do now.
Jim did ask, "..the man to turn the juke box way down low"
I still can't listen to "Mr. Lonely" by Bobby Darren without choking up. That is from a time in our past (for many reasons we both experienced) that you can relate to sailortats.
