Thanks Graham, well, I've been here all along actually, lurking, I think they call it.

Some people are more prolific posters than others, as of course you know! You must have been through several keyboards by now!

I'll try and post a little more often and see if I can improve my status somewhat. I'm aiming to be a 'grand defender of the kilt' before the millennium is out!

This thread warranated a response. I have been looking for jacket for ages. Finally I was pointed towards Scottishkilts.net by Alaskan on the Bravehearts site. I ended up ordering (that is Visa bought it for me) a Charcoal tweed jacket and matching waistcoat for $380 cdn. http://scottishkilts.net/products/sc...waistcoat.html

Not bad considering that an black Argyle alone retails for $400 at the local shop, and this one came with the waistcoat. Now I have to received the jacket yet, but got a 6 am phone call from David at Scottishkilts last week to say that they would be shipping it today (2 day deleviery) so that I can have it for a good friends wedding on Friday. So far the service has been great. I will let you know if the package arrives in the time the said it would, and what kind of quality the jacket is.

With a matching vest, that is not at all bad.....

Which version of kilt jacket would be the most equivalent to the everyday 'sport jacket' that can be worn with jeans, khakis and dress trousers? Would that be an Argyll, Craill or just a day tweed?

I think the search for just the right jacket at just the right price can be just as (well, it has been) painful as that foray into deciding on that first hand-made tank....
