Security policy changed on Monday, due to a certain individual currently spending a considerable time in jail right now. I can't wear a sporran, which limits the interest in wearing a kilt at work. The Mocker Utilikilt is OK, but the fabric is rather light and lacks the swish of a traditional kilt.

The reasoning being I might be taking something out of the area in the sporran... despite others having pockets on their pants that serve the same function.

I don't work in a normal office - need a couple security clearances where I am.

I work in secure areas myself, and have worn kilt and sporran. Do they allow women to carry their purses?

You could wear a UT Kilts kilt - They aren't my favourite utility kilt because they are a bit stiff, but they do have hidden pockets, just like trousers. You can remove the cargo pockets easily by unstitching them. Then you would have something that's exactly the same as trousers but without the bifurcation!

    My question, also.

No, women are not allowed to carry a purse.

Cups are allowed, but they must be completely clear - no labels anywhere and it must be spill proof. Not allowed chapstick or any personal belongings (cellphones included), except for the old iPod Nano (the small one inch square version with only the headphone jack) and headphones.

Well then, it seems fair although very restrictive. There must be a reason to do with what you work with.

They don’t care check out pockets or anything on our clothing. It’s very contradictory from a security standpoint.

Agreed that's odd. I wonder what the security folks have in mind. My point was that at least it wasn't gender-inequitable.

Father Bill, restrictive, however, probably, needed. Years ago, we had friends that worked at large, local, Defense Contractor. They worked in the machine shop. One of the Company rules, if a drill bit was dulled, it had to be thrown out. The tool room guy simply handed out new bits when needed, deducting them from inventory. The same with things like 1/8" pop rivets. One could request an amount from stores, any extra were to be thrown out. Both items, to amateur sports car racers are like air & water to everyone else. One of the elders had a habit of taking an empty thermos to work, stuffed with paper towels. Every couple of weeks, he would wrap up dull bits, & a couple hundred pop rivets into the thermos. Becoming silent cargo. At the Security Check, heading out, the gate keeper (never the same people) would ask to look in the thermos. Said elder, would state, "I brought milk for my coffee 2 weeks ago, do you really want me to open it?". Or, something similar about soup, or anything that would spoil & be more than a bit pongy. Drivel ends..

get a cheap sporran and remove the pocket just leaving the front panel.
And fix the opening flap on.

When I've heard of the thermos the trick was to put things between the liner and it's case.

In the RAF we weren't allowed to bring in a cassette recorder or radio because a Soviet spy had hidden a radio transmitter in one.
Meanwhile we were all electronics technicians and could have built anything from the tons of components we had available in the secure building.
