This may have been true of the Navy but we grunts and dogfaces enjoy talking about our tours of combat. Had any of you been at the reunion of the First Infantry Division ( or any Army Division for that matter, I belong to the 1st ID [ B Co. 2/16 Inf.] and the 3rd ID [FROG]) this last July in Phoenix you would have heard lots of stories from men who were there chewing the dirt.
I have found just the opposite, those that don't like to talk about it are those that weren't there to talk about it. Of course there is always the exception to the rule.
I server from 21 Jan. 1970 to 1 Jan. 1991. Retired an SFC.
Chris.

I was on the Plunger from '79 through '81 so I missed your dad by at least one COB.
For you non-Navy people, the COB is the Chief of the Boat and the most senior enlisted man on board.
Oh, I forgot to list the USS Denver (LPD9).

Just hitting 16 years in the Army. Only 4 more to go. I've enjoyed most of it except for the family separation. Even with that I enjoyed Korea though. Been family doing something off and on since the revolution.

It'll be interesting to see if the spread on this poll statistically reflects current distribution of troops across the armed forces. 3 years active Army.
Convener, Georgia Chapter, House of Gordon (Boss H.O.G.)
Where 4 Scotsmen gather there'll usually be a fifth.
7/5 of the world's population have a difficult time with fractions.

Being homosexual, I was not allowed to enlist, but would not have had I been. Neither I nor any of my ancestors bore arms in defense of our country since some time before the American Revolution. When we did, it was to overthrow the established government in the Revolution and the American Civil War.
