30? My kilts have been about 33 pleates. I figure it is about 2000 stitches just for the pleats.
Barb, Love the kilt, but...but... what about the traditional kilt, thought you were a devout traditional knife kilter. Nice to see that you are breaking out.

She just made a traditional kilt. As the box pleated kilt was standard fare c. 1790s up to the mid-1800s, it's very traditional.

WOW that is impressive - can't wait to get my hands on the pdf when it is published. Barb, you and Matt are very generous sharing this information with us. Thanks,
Brian

M.A.C, I knew you would respond with the box pleat being the "traditional" kilt. Just couldn't wait for your reply. Thanks for not dissapointing me.

Ah, actually, my son-in-law (who is the model in the pics) gets to keep it. I chose the tartan because my daughter is making her first kilt in the NYC tartan, and I thought they'd look good together.

Barb and Matt,
Did the PDF on box pleating mentioned in this thread ever appear on the forum? I would be interested in adding that as an additional appendix in my copy of Art of Kiltmaking.
Many thanks,
