Hoping the mods well understand the difference between religion and the spiritual experience of being at one with Nature and being connected to Nature.
What a great experience Ron!
It reminds me that almost every year at our local (B'ham) games we are visited by at least one bald eagle.
The first time was as the massed bands played he soared in over them, only about 20 to 30 ft above, and just kept soaring around over the field as the band played!
The latest was just before the kirkin o' the tartans, one settled into a nearby cedar tree overlooking us.
Anyhow, I digress and return to the discussion at hand (just wanted to share that with you )...

Your generosity humbles me yet again sir. I really appreciate the notion! I happened to pick up some cheap ol' Swisher's this weekend (much to my gal's disdain) to satisfy my need for a smoke. Havent broken them in though, its been much to cold to stand outside and smoke a cigar! (I never smoke in my apartment).

As I recall, at one time the cigar manufacturing capital of the world was the town of Conestoga, Kentucky. Hence "Stogie" as the nickname of the cigar... but I digress. Dug around and found two Ropp pipes (they're made in France, but don't hold that against them-- the French are pretty good when it comes to pleasurable vices) which I'll post out to you sometime later today.

Wahoo. . . you are like a kilted Santa Claus. . . . I wouldn't know the difference between a French pipe and an Irish pipe in the first place. Hmm. Good bit of history on the cigars, I was always wondering where that came from. Appreciate the pipes and eagerly await their arrival!

French pipes have fewer drones than Irish pipes....

Several years ago, I stopped smoking a pipe, and slowly got rid of my collection. I have the below available for someone who would appreciate it.
Any offers?

I picked up my first pipe when I was about 14. Not sure why other than I just like'd it. It's 28 years later and I'm still enjoying my pipes. I've got about thirty-five now and most of them are Boswell pipes. I really prefer the J.M. Boswell pipes for a couple reasons. They're really nice, high quality pipes for a reasonable price and J.M Boswell and his family are the nicest people. I visit with them a couple times a year and have the best time. Plus, they sell the only tobaccos I smoke, Boswells Best and Bear Blend. I also have a few Savenelli, a couple Falcons and one or two Kaywoodie pipes.

Well, I just got a new estate pipe to replace the one that went missing when I first went to America.
It's a burred walnut medway.
Very well made and smokes like a dream. The smoke flow in it is just strong enough to give you the full flavour and it has a nice, deep bowl.

I also have a pipe on the way that a lurker here from Scotland wants me to make into a Sgian don't. (Along with a usb sgian don't and a bottle opener sgian don't. In return they are sending me a kilt for my dad!)
With me, pipe and cigar smoking is something done quite rarely as a pleasure.
My dad is a cigarette smoker and it has made him terribly ill. So I have always been very careful with my pipe smoking.
I don't smoke around my dad or my family because I try very hard to be supportive of his attempts to quit and I don't think it would be fair to him to smoke around him.
He tried pipe smoking a few years back and it just didn't suit him.
That said, I do sometimes smoke around my wife who doesn't mind it at all.
I have hopes she thinks it looks very dignified.

Last time I smoked a pipe was back in college (6 years ago) and remember enjoying it. All this talk of pipes had me bid on this from ebay: a Peterson Emerald
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN:IT&ih=022
Hopefully I didn't overpay!
Can anyone recommend a decent, inexpensive mild tobacco to break in this pipe? Unfortunately, I do not live terribly close to a good tobacco store so it's mail order or grocery store. Any suggestions would be extremely appreciated. (I know the Pub forum offers advice like this, but the filtering software at work blocks it )
