I believe you can get your SportKilt to custom length. I was able to a year or so ago. Think I paid about $130 for custom length, belt loops, and sewn down pleats. They didn't offer the buckles then.
Would guess the main difference between SWK and SportKilt is gonna be the fabrics. Thought there were a couple of threads comparing them head to head.

[QUOTE=Nighthawk;520864]I feel really ripped off having spent $130 on my Sport Kilt the works kilt. I was really disapointed with it. I felt like I get a $60 kilt, and paid over twice what it was worth. / So over all, I say the SWK is a much better value. [QUOTE]
I second these comments. I was expecting a much nicer product from SK for the money. Live and learn. Jerry has my money for inexpenive knockaround kilts.

The great thing about SWK's is that they're nice enough that you can dress them up, as well as use them as knockaround kilts. They're much more versatile that SKs, as well.

One could speculate that the price difference is due to the labor costs for the kilts SWK sells probably being lower than the labor costs for the kilts SportKilt sews up in California. May be totally wrong, but worked in cut and sew for many many years and it makes sense to me.

I've heard that the SWK Thrifty starts to unravel or so after a few washings, is that true?

Not in my experience. Each of my thrifties has been washed at least 5 times, and no problems with unravelling yet.
But wash them gently......I say again GENTLY!!!
Hand washing would be even better, and really not that much of a problem either.

I got my first Thrify in Irish National for St. Patrick's this year. My first two kilts were SWK heavyweights with which I have been very happy. On balance I was quite happy with the Thrifty. It served me well for St. Pat's and is great to just throw on around the house.
But after reading this thread, I think I may sew the pleats down. Thanks.

There's your link to the SK Vs. SWK. Except this thread is talking about the econemy and not the thrifty from SWK.

Yes the wool SWK is very good, and I prefer wool above all else if it's a well made kilt. All the other good materials have their place though. Hope you get what will make you happy.
