Who wears a kilt everyday?

Phil,
I too have enjoyed your posts, your opinions, and your friendliness on this forum.
There are some times when I wear kilts, times when I don't, times I wear them casually, and times when it's more formal.

And yes there are some times when i may be classified as obsessive regarding wearing kilts.

Stick with it here, we all need the different input, all are not only welcome here, but the diversity in character is needed to help all of us to learn more.

At the risk of emulating the late great Frank Sinatra (not in the singing or looks department I have to say) in the number of comebacks I promise not to give up altogether as I know I would miss such a friendly bunch. Personally, I love hearing the views of our Scottish members on a garment that originated in their country. It would be a shame to lose your input. I wear the kilt occasionally, maybe once or twice a month. I wear a kilt to Scottish events, weddings, and to campus everyonce in a while. I like to shake up my routine a little and educate people on campus when I can. Now that I have a REAL traditional kilt, I much prefer it to my cheap knockoffs and will continue to buy on the up and up as I can afford. That being said, I have a contemporary kilt, or skirt if you prefer, that I rather enjoy wearing. I freely tell people it has no connection with Scotland, I just enjoy wearing it. I am alright with being "that guy that wears a skirt."

For me this forum has been indespensable. It has served as a great source of knowledge for getting in touch with the traditions of a part of my heritage. I dont take this place too seriously. We are all here to enjoy one anothers company and share ideas. I have met some really great people on account of Xmarks and would hate to lose that.

I won't tell you to stay or go. That's your choice, and I'm in no position to say what you ought to do. However, I will say this:

I don't wear the kilt full-time, but when I have enough, I certainly hope to (excluding activities for which a kilt is not feasible or allowed). And while I am not obsessed, I am passionate about kilts. Not about the need to wear them every day, but the comfort, the practicality and the freedom to wear what I want. This is a necessity because I am "the kilt guy" in my area, and am often the only one who will defend the garment. I don't try to allow that passion to overflow into the forum too much, but I suppose it may happen from time to time.

And I am not a traditionalist. Far from it. I have little concern for culture, tradition, and many other things which many board members value so highly. In that respect, I would bet that I am the one who does not fit in.

So, as someone who is probably on the very opposite end of the spectrum, I would like to say that your input has been valuable, and it will be sad to see you go. It is not our agreements and consensus that makes this board interesting but our disagreements and discussions which keep things alive and thought provoking.

I do hope that you drop by from time to time. We are a very diverse group that wears the kilt for many different reasons. I am one of the members that wears a kilt daily. For me it's a matter of comfort - due to physical disabilities. That said, I have a great respect for the kilt and certainly hold nothing against folks that wear theirs only occasionally or for special events. I do have several of the light weight non-traditional kilts because I can't wear my wool one's in the summer - besides damage to my sweat glands, I think the Kennedy part of my blood is calling out for that oceanic climate from which it originated .

So please stay with us. XMarks is an experience in global friendship and learning, no matter how many kilts you have, what type, or how often you wear them.
