Fascinating stuff boys, slurs, conclusive jumping, insults, the whole 9 yards (oh look - a sort-of kilt reference!).
I've thought of many words I could type in response to this and a few other threads but again, the point will be lost so why waste the time.
It's much easier to click on the little x up in the right corner and not fret the small things.

There will be differences of opinion on this boards, which is only natural and healthy. We are all individuals. It is also fair to say that, because we write this stuff, the 70% of non verbal communication ( body language and voice tone) don't get into our conversations, and so the opportunities for miscommunication are high.
You have contibuted much to this forum and positively impacted the lives of many. I am very grateful for the X-Kilt manual for a start.
fyi. I wear kilts as comfortable clothing. That's it. But as the French say: 'chacun a son gout'
You and your family are in my prayers.
with every good wish.

Alan,
I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the contribution you have made here, and to my kilt wearing personally. I appreciate the time and effort you have expended for your fellow kilties. Your X-Kilt manual is easy to read as well as informative and your posts helpful.
Like the saying goes, "Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one". That's human nature and one of the strengths of this board - diversity. It provides a richness of experience and you have contributed mightily to this Kilting tapestry we call X Marks.
Thank you my friend,
Dale

Hey Alan-
I'll match you in to-the-point form-
I'm 38-I first got married to a South African in 1995 and moved there and lived for 5 years. thats how long it took for she and I to completely grow to hate each other, and divorced. BUT, I started working for Apple while there, so I came back to Atlanta and continued with Apple. 2002 got transferred to Sacramento to work. Got remarried and worked like a DOG for Apple. 2007...Wife that can't get pregnant does. Unexpected baby in my late 30's, all the while I'm beginning to have serious health issues related to work. 2008-I walked into work and said I'm done. Handed my badge and left Apple....No plan, no back-up...I had gained 70 pounds working infront of a computer with more and more of a work load each day. the bigger Apple got, the more they left that "Fun, hippy like attitude..Think different..remember?" and became more of a factory line. I said goodbye just like that....
So now what to do? I started my own business in this terrible economy, but guess what-I'm taking all my lessons good and bad, and applying them to my life so that I can get by right now....And its working. I have made in reality, no money from my new venture, but I'm going to keep trying. AND I'M GOING TO CONTINUE WEARING DICED HOSE AS CASUAL AND FORMAL ATTIRE!!
Thats my bottom line-KEEP TRYING. Take the good and bad and let that be your navigator. Life is hardly perfect, but its the only one you have. Petty arguments are just that. We are upholders of an ancient tradition that didn't have a written manual until the 1900's, and even then, who knows what sanctions the rule makers had. Just put your kilt on...and love it and the life you have to wear it!
