Saturday night entertainment?
I've been cogitating on entertainment for Saturday night. Here's what I've come up with:
-everyone bring a poem, song, or story to read and we'll go around and take turns
-talent show...do that voodoo that you do, whatever it is
-I could give a campfire program with songs, stories, and perhaps a slide show (maybe I'll even wear the hat!)
-we could bask in the glory of the evening and each other's brilliant company and do nothing at all
What do you think?

I think first, we have to hope that the current state budget situation doesn't close down our camp ground.
Otherwise I vote talent & or campfire program.
Best regards,
Jake

I'm doing what I can to keep the parks open just for us. Last night I testafied in Sacramento before the Budget Conference Committee against the proposal to close parks.
Want to do something to help keep parks open? Go visit a State Park and enjoy yourself! (Oh, and please wear a kilt. It makes state employees smile, and they need it these days).

Sounds like you all are gearing up for a fantastic time.
I regret that I will be unavailable. We are getting married the following weekend, and I'm told that there's a bunch of stuff to do during the week before.
Pfft.
Please let me know for next time.

Sometime in the next week the state will be coming out with a list of the parks that will be closed. Last I heard they were planning on closing 100 parks. Hopefully Caswell won't be on the list, but we'll see.
I'll keep everyone posted.

When my sister visited, we visited a state beach and purposely payed to park inside to show our support for the system.

Googling around, it appears that the California State Parks closure list still hasn't been released. It is supposed to be "some time after Labor Day" (on one website) and by October 1st (on the reservations website.)
If Caswell S.P. closes, perhaps the rabble could take a certain State Parks employee hostage, jump the fence, and "hole up" there anyway.
(Besides, who knows if the California I.O.U. issued for the reservation refund is convertible to U.S. dollars? )
Or, from a less phantasmic view, maybe we could re-site the outing to Del Valle Regional Park.
