One observation I thought worth mention is that there seemed to be a preference for wearing these type sporrans with the lacey collars and more Vicotorian(?) style formal wear? I thought it also seemed to fit better in most of these instances as opposed to ganged with the modern PC and bow tie etc. More or less anyway...

Really enjoyed the post and the piccies. Well done!
A good point, Wes. It's important that all the elements of an outfit go together, not just in levels of formality, but in style, as well. I think an angora goat hair sporran, for example, might compliment a Sherrifmuir worn with lace jabot or a cravat quite nicely. Perhaps it would not look so congruous with an Argyle and neck tie.

If some one here at XMTS did buy it, then don't be bashful. Like McMurdo said, we'd love to see some photos...
Ah sorry it was not you, perhaps next time, if there is a mystery owner out there I'd love to see it.

Most, but not all. I see two Black Watch and possibly one Gordons and an Argyll and Sutherland sporran and some others I can't see clearly enough to identify.

There are two Black Watch sporrans, one worn by the Earl of Caithness. I do not believe any of the others are military, except one worn by Lord Duplin, which is an Atholl Highlanders sporran ( he is an officer ). The one that could be a Gordon sporran might actually be a Seaforth sporran.

The chap in photo #2 seems to be wearing a slightly reworked Argyll and Sutherland Levee Dress sporran. In any case, my question was, is it common for Scottish veterans to wear their regimental sporrans with civilian kit? If these photos are any indication then I will take the answer to be yes.

I love the goat hair sporrans - not the curly angora ones, but the straight long hair ones - not as long as horse, but smart and classy...

That is the late Duke of Argyll. I hardly think he is wearing a reworked A & S sporran! That is a one-off sporran.
