Once at a pub, I was wearing my hunting Buchanan and a pair of khaki hose from WPG. A female stranger at the bar, apparently having had a bit too much, indicated her displeasure at the clash in colors between my kilt and my hose. I assumed this was an attempt to start a conversation, which I decided to avoid.

What if someone really does like your shoes? Do they have to voice a disclaimer before saying so?

    ...there you go.

Unless it was delivered with a wink, smile, or other flirtatious gesture, she was probably either just looking to deliver a compliment but unsure of what to say, or she really was complimenting your shoes.

But yeah, that would be why anyone who heard it would have been shooting beer out of their nose .

Jack, what was this woman drinking? Buchanan Hunting and khaki go well together.
Much better, at any rate, than my regimental Graham of Montrose did with the khaki hosetops issued to us. And with red flashes and white anklets they were still pretty darned smart!
