Yessir!! I couldn't agree more. See, my biggest problem with it is that I'm a leather worker by trade. My hands get filthy (Read black with dyes!) so I would ruin an outfit like just by walking by it.

And everyone would know it was your hands what were guilty...

That guy is going to outshine his bride!

Thanks for mentioning Cab Calloway MOR - now I am going to have to dig out The Blues Brothers to watch him performing Minnie The Moocher!

Which all of this got me thinking... is there any outfit, any at all, in which a white kilt would look good?

A white kilt with a black jacket? Red jacket? Tweed jacket? Tartan jacket? It's all hideous, at least how I'm visualising it.

I have seen a number of top-level pipers wear entirely black outfits... that look is rather popular now. The kilt is either plain black, or the "Black Isle" tartan.

Another popular look is to have a normal tartan kilt but everything else black.

Or in some cases a contrasting necktie- I saw the World Champion Saint Lawrence O Toole Pipe Band wearing black shirts and black waistcoats with silver neckties.

White doublets are an entirely different matter: all the kilted Highland regiments used to wear them, in No 3 Dress.

And bandsmen wore them. Here's John Rennie of the 72nd Highlanders:

Here's a somewhat strange white doublet...

I like the Sheriffmuir in the OP better.

and now for something completely different...

You know, now that you mention it, I can't imagine a white kilt looking good either.

I LOVE white doublets. I also love the white uniforms people are usually quick to hate. Navy whites: I think they're one of the better looking American uniforms. Marine Corps Dress Whites: Loved them too... they were discontinued before I joined though, otherwise, I'd have worn them when I had the chance.

I like that one too. Though, I'd swap out that tie I think. But I do like the OP a lot more than this one.

    Ew.

I actually like it. I'd never wear it but I do like it.

Nice kilt, but lots of rhinestones would be nice.
