As there are a number of pictures of me on this site with polo untucked, I guess that answers the question. Tee's would be the same, though I rarely wear them. If I am wearing anything over the polo or Tee, or wearing a kilt belt, then tucked for sure. Regretably wearing something over them is more the norm in this part of the world. Shirts are always tucked.

If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

"someone" just motivated me to find the ignore function - all is good now Since I've posted this question I've noticed pics online of guys with tshirts & kilts both tucked & untucked & many look fine to me as long as the shirt is not so long as to hide too much of the kilt .

This topic wouldn't have had any meaning to me, having worn the kilt for nearly 40 years and never (AFAIK) worn a t-shirt with it, until the Pipe Band I play in, the Long Beach Fire Department Pipe Band, decided to wear band t-shirts and baseball caps as sort of a 2nd kit for certain informal events.
It's better, we found, when doing fundraisers, to wear the t-shirts, which have the band name in huge letters on the back, so people know who we are.
Here's some of us at a recent event. As you see we have the t-shirts tucked and wear belts for a uniformlike appearance

I wear t-shirts both tucked or untucked with jeans, depending on whether I have on a belt, but I always wear them tucked with my kilt.
To my eye, there can be a certain, casual grace to wearing a t-shirt untucked with the kilt, but I don't quite feel able to carry the look.

With a kilt, I always wear my T-shirts tucked. I like being able to show off my belt and sporran. Besides, I just think it looks better. I never tuck a T-shirt in when panted, though.

Context is everything, my friend...This is me at a Dropkick Murphy's concert last year. Given the context, I think untucked worked here. But honestly, I didn't give it much thought. Of course, what you might not see (unless you look VERY closely) is that I am wearing another t-shirt underneath. I don't care for the feeling of my kilt and belt up against my stomach directly. I like the t-shirt to act as another layer to keep the kilt from getting too soiled.

It occurs to me that either the shirt is tucked into the kilt or, in effect, the kilt is tucked into the shirt. Which one is more important to you?

I don't wear t-shirts at all....
With my figure it looks horrible - with or without a kilt!

Here`s someone who could really pull off the untucked look. In fact, he may have invented it.

I prefer to wear my shirts tucked in when I wear a kilt or BDUs, yet I prefer un-tucked in jeans.
