Cold weather redux

If the kilt's right, (a good weight and in wool, as it should be) it can be worn in cold weather no bother.
We have worn ours in -20C and below and not frozen anything. :-)

With me though, if I can't wear it 'right' I won't wear it at all. so no extra long kilts. (Yes, I still think there's nothing worse than a kilt that comes below a mans knee, and nothing worse than a ladies kilt that doesn't!!!)

No socks pulled up over the knee either.
So, if it's too cold to wear it Right, it can stop at home and I'll wear trousers.. Quite simple really!

Hi Micric, Def agree that a mans kilt should be were it belongs anything longer or shorter looks odd......I myself wear my kilts in the center of my knees or an inch above my knees...3 of my kilts are at center of my knees, my other 9 go an inch above my knees..I do wear tights, fleece leggings (winter) .. and socks... something like slip/biker shorts in summer.. I try to do right by wearing my beautiful kilts and I think I look good in them ..Have a good day... Angie

Ah! you have got me!
I have been thinking how to reply without getting into any hotter water than I am in at present. :-)

I am quite sure you would look Sunning in a kilt shorter than I suggested in my post.
When I wrote the above, I was thinking of the lassies we see in pipe bands, wearing kilts cut for men, and looking rather bulky in them. From this perspective, a longer kilt would look more elegant/flowing.
There are of course, exceptions to the rule, and a lady as yourself could wear any kilt she fancied, and be the envy of all.

Well, I'm (figuratively!) sitting astride this horse, with a rope around me neck tied to the tree branch overhead.
The call is yours,..............do you whack the horse across the backside and be done with me or do I get a reprieve?...........

Micric, Lol no smacking of a horses butt, u r safe, take the rope off lol..Thank you so much for the laugh...I wasn't mad or anything lol.. I'm short so wearing anything really long would make me look shorter then I already am lol.. I think almost every type of kilts or the tartan skirts are all so beautiful.... Men look so handsome in them..... Im a bit of a tom boy so I can put a Form fitting T shirt on and romp around go to a diner/restaurant or put on a nice feminine shirt on and go out on the town even NYC to a Play. U can dress the kilt up or dress it down either way u/ we all look terrific in them...Again wasn't mad or upset..So take of the rope ..Thank you for the laugh...Angie

Hello!

I remember writing a post regarding my Under Armour 9 inch boxerjocks that I bought on Amazon. They are warm and do their job quite well but I wanted to further comment after some experience. Sadly, I have found that with longer walks -- and certainly on hikes -- the synthetic material rubs against the wool of the kilt which creates static electricity and causes the kilt to bunch up in the front. This problem doesn't materialize when the wool is against my skin so I have concluded that it's caused because of the interaction between the UA boxerjock material and the wool.

jthk, I use the "Obviously for men" brand 9 inch boxers that use Model ( AKA rayon or viscose ) spandex. I conducts static so there is no static buildup. And they are almost as comfy as going regimental. Made in Australia so they are a bit pricy.

It's funny and nice that something made from birch trees is so splinter free...
