I understand your feelings, Ron. But if the symbol of the cross bothers you, keep in mind that it (as well as mythic christ figures) predates christianity considerably, and is really a symbol of life and "maleness".

My left leg tattoo is composed of four Celtic knots, top and bottom are triangles (doesn't get much more pagan than triangles) center is 2 rectangles it is aprox. 9 in x 4 in. I have had it for about thirteen years. Funny thing is nobody said much about it until I went full kilt. Now I have had several people ask to take a photo of it etc. One of the staff photogs for the city of Chicago took several of me in my leather kilt with emphasis on the tat at the last Chicago Celtic Fest. Said it may be used in next years program, guess we'll see.

Biggest barrier for me is that the Macdonald crest has a cross in it....and I'm not Christian.
I'm devoutly Pagan, because for all the years and years of being in Christian churches all my "burning bush" spiritual experiences, close connections with God, have occured in or near sweatlodge amid flurry's of Native prayers.
There is a Macdonald of the Isles crest I've seen that is more boats and birds...looking for that, don't think it has the cross.
Easy brothers, I've nothing against Christians, I just ain't one.
Ron
I've taken the cross out of the badge. Is there a pagan symbol you'd like to put in its place?
