I don't post in this thread often, but I too vote to send the Saltire out on another mission. I posted a while ago that I would be willing to host the ship on a stop in my area, not that we have all that much to see.
Since the first mission took two years, then maybe the next one will take 4 years. To quote Buzz Lightyear: "To infinity and beyond".

I would imagine that it is on it's way to or has arrived at Jamie's. The wee airship has as standing orders to be there for Burns Night every year.

The Saltire represents the old ruling parties. With the new forum owner and a new way of doing business in this corner of the cyberspace, the forum needs a new symbol and new vehicle.
Let the Saltire be retired.

I'm inclined to think the Saltire represents the membership. It's been around the world and met many of us. Sad to think that politics and personalities should get in the way of it's continued journeys.
Has it been to the Antipodes yet? Or Africa?
What other object do we know of that has travelled so far to bring so many different people closer together.
A stroke of genius by Jamie if you ask me...
It shouldn't be about where it came from. It should be about where it's going next.
Forward thinking, that's the key!

A fitting epitaph Jamie.
It was great to see Kent and Madeleine again in your photos at the Saltire's final event. Hopefully despite the retiral of the Saltire, friendships will continue and I will be privileged to meet you and the other members of your group some day.

Lovely set of final pics Jamie,
She looks as good as new despite all her travels,
And great news about the log!
