This year for me, I wore my MacNaughton muted to a family party. It was very well received. Pictures to follow.

My first kilted Christmas(today) was great. We had three dinners with three different sets of family. It was a busy day, but nice. Nobody really said anything about the kilt, which was nice. They left my brother alone about his tattoos too.
I got everything I wanted and more. Among other things, I got a heated lap blanket in a pseudo-Black Watch pattern specifically chosen to match my kilts, a new pair of steel-toed Doc Martens, and a practice chanter kit.
It was a great kilted Christmas

So my first kilted Christmas is coming to an end. Well, really it ended yesterday, because Christmas Eve is the bigger celebration in my family. Wore my kilt to church that night and it was well received. Mind you, I'm Catholic so I was literally (yes, in the literal sense) surrounded by Mac's and O's. ![Very Happy](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
A pair of kilt flashes, a little money earmarked for kilt accessories (advice welcome) and a little mini-bodhran too. Oh and Guinness pajama pants from my little sister Pictures to be posted once my internet connection picks up the pace.

As I mentioned earlier, this is my first...here are the pics. They are also the promised pics from an earlier thread about the Frugal Corner Royal Stewart special.

I got a couple of comments in good fun, but it wasn't a big deal to anyone. Biggest problem were that my brother and sister each had new dogs, and the dogs were very interested in performing kilt checks.

My first Kilted Christmas also. Attended Sunday Yule service kilted, then Monday night (Christmas eve) service kilted. Christmas day with family and friends kilted. "nice plaid", "since you have been coming to church kilted, my children have been asking a lot of questions - Thank you for wearing it." " Is that a real knife in your sock?" My Avatar is the picture my spouse took when I came home from church on Sunday.

My first kilted Christmas
This was my first kilted Christmas.
Here is a quick pic (sorry, it's a little dark) before heading out to my parents for dinner. My brother and brother-in-law razzed me about the kilt, but that's obviously expected. ![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
I wore a black Jacobite shirt that I've had for years, my new SWK Nightstalker Standard kilt, and the SWK leather sporran.

Mom LOVED it. Got a lot of intial ribbing by the male family members but the woman folk thought I was the cat's pajamas. Even my Cousin Joe (An army vet, who we knew would be the main antagonist) said "All kidding aside, you look good. You're braver than me."
I took it graciously though I wanted to say "Well that's cause I was in the Marines, not the Army."

Great post, so far, folks!
My first kilted Christmas went well. It all started with a kilted Sunday - which was cold, snowy and VERY windy (fortunately, my greatcoat helped with the wind!). I don't get seen much at first, as I work the sound/video system...but after service, people didn't see how I was able to wear a kilt in that type of weather - even though many of the women were wearing dresses. But yeah, Sunday went well.
On Christmas Eve, I repressed the pleats so that they'd all be nice and straight. Despite my being kilted for nearly three months, my grandmother still is not fond of it at all. She thinks I'm going through "a phase." My aunt and uncle liked it, though...and I got a lot of jokes from my uncle. However, my cousin...well...she thought it was different but said I was able to wear it well.
Only one mishap, and that was when my flask leaked a lil' in my sporran - but all's okay! But, overall, it went very well. I look forward to next year when I'll finally be be wearing tartan!
Cheers,
Joel
