And if you grow a beard long enough, you don't have to worry about any tie!!!

I often wear a tie, even when I "Don't Have To." I am always on the lookout for a nice one.

I dare hope you wouldn't say that to a parishoner who happens to like wearing them.

Horses for courses, gentlemen...my only question is...how would you all react if someone substituted "kilt" for "tie", or even a particular style of kilt?

If we're going to demand respect for one style of clothing, we really shouldn't run down others just because we do not personally prefer them.

    Regards,

    Todd

I had a long-whiskered moustache twice. As I was growing it the first time, nobody in the know told me about blowing my nose, and so I learned the hard way.

No problem there. If I can keep my political preferences to myself, I can easily ignore a tie. Of course with a full suit they indeed look nice, but I've seen classy Bolo Ties work just as well. And of course a more casual jacket is fine with a cravat. However, It's purely habit. If shirt collars were changed, e.g. 'Turtle neck' in the '70's, or 'Band collars" of the '90's, then ties would be obsolete, and no one would even murmur.

The Silk Tie manufacturing lobby did all in their power to get rid of Turtle Neck shirts in the '70's; it was like a Middle Eastern 'Tie Cartel'. But, of course different strokes for different folks. It's all a matter of personal taste.

Mc Murdo, of course would look dashing no matter what he wore, tie or T-shirt.

I "have to" wear a tie when I work downtown in my office near the executive suite, though not always. When I work in the satellite locations, not so much. I love ties, and can't ever seem to have enough of them.

Of course, that seems to be the problem with every kind of clothing I have... I just bought a pair of suede driving mocs in kiwi green, like I needed them.

    Regards,
    Rex.
