John...English Bloke,
Sorry for the diversion but is there somewhere I can see a large version of your avatar? it looks interesting ...as if it were a visual representation of the evolution of the English flag??

The British flag if you don't mind. The English flag is a red cross(vertical and horizontal) on a white background. The cross of St. George.

How interesting!! I didn't realize that the "British" or United Kingdom flag was a combination of all of these.
Thank you for the indulgence in diverting this thread.

I saw the same article with a photo of Sir Sean having his kilt lifted by a lassie. (He didn't seem to be doing a lot of resisting either.)
I figured someone would beat me to posting it, so I didn't even try. I am usualy a day late and a dollar short anyway.
As to regimental in rented attire . . . well, no me neither. I can see where the rentals places would object as well.

Since I have a few gents probably renting kilts for my upcoming nuptials, I've already told them that undergarments are to be worn in a rental, and I used many of the same arguments here to convince them. (not surprising, the "you don't know where those have been" argument worked the best)
Now I can definitely see where kilt rentals would be even more at risk than tux rentals, as the percentage of kilted weddings/events that are alcohol free are probably much much lower than tux events that are dry. And when there is an open bar, all the beer drinkers become whiskey drinkers without any of the practice or tolerance. Add that to a complete lack of undergarments, and you have the taxi cab driver's story.
Of course, now that I can share some of these stories, I might be convincing some of the boys to buy rather than rent
